Narrative
DES MOINES, IA – Two people from Texas died at the end of June in a single-vehicle accident along the interstate in north-central Des Moines.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 29th, on I-80 near 2nd Avenue, which is north of Park Fair Mall and west of Marquisville.
Police say that for unknown reasons, an eastbound Honda SUV left the interstate and crashed into a creek after hitting a guard rail.
A woman, identified as 58-year-old Rose A. Engel, died at the scene.
Medics transported a man, 65-year-old William L. Engel, to the hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
An investigation regarding the cause of the accident is ongoing.
