Narrative
JEFFERSON CO., IA – A teen girl died Thursday in a wrong-way crash along a major roadway in western Jefferson County.
The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Packwood Road, which runs north to south from IA-78 to US-34. Police haven’t provided a cross street for the collision.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a southbound vehicle entered the northbound side of Packwood Road and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle.
The wrong-way driver, identified as Ava Ford, sustained fatal injuries.
Medics airlifted the other driver to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
