Narrative
NEWTON, IA – A 23-year-old man went to the hospital Sunday after a multi-vehicle crash at a busy intersection on the east side of Newton.
The accident happened around 5 p.m. at 1st Avenue East and East 17th Street, which is just west of Dollar General and north of Hy-Vee.
Police say that both an eastbound Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle and an eastbound Cadillac CT4 collided with a Ford Explorer when the driver of the latter vehicle failed to yield when exiting a business drive.
The impact of the crash ejected the motorcycle operator, identified as Harley M. S. Howe. Medics airlifted Howe to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Neither the driver of the Cadiallac nor the driver of the Ford sustained injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
