Narrative
BOONE COUNTY, Iowa — A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred northwest of Boone on Monday night, claiming the life of Larry Young, 74, of Boone.
The incident transpired at the intersection of Kale Road and 170th Street around 7:05 p.m., according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Young, driving southbound on Kale Road, allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in a collision with a westbound pickup truck operated by Kenneth Lendt, 62, of Ogden.
The impact propelled Young’s truck into a power pole and trees, leading to his pronounced death at the scene. Lendt sustained injuries and was transported to Boone County Hospital; the extent of his injuries remains undisclosed.
The Iowa State Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
